SOMETIMES DXWnd actually successfully prevents this (or rather, it turns it on after the game turns it off). Using DXWnd, Aero compatibility works BUT the game still turns off Aero and I have to go through the process of restarting Uxsms still.

Basically what happens is that without DXWnd, the game will turn off Aero on Windows 7 and I have to tab out and restart Uxsms to turn it on again. Just a small nitpick but just thought I'd give a heads up. Neither GOG related hooking options helped, either.Īm I trying to do something impossible or am I missing something in the settings? I'll send links over PM.Īlso, you should probably make it so that when exporting, DXWnd should automatically remove any invalid characters from the file name before setting the default filename as the title of the game for export. Using both will cause the game to automatically set itself to a lower resolution and even causes the game to crash entirely when trying to open the options menu. I want to get DXWnd working with both the GOG dll and itself at the same time because I'd like the new resolution options but also DXWnd's windowing and filter options along with proper Aero compatibility at the same time but it doesn't quite work. It definitely hooks and is capable of resizing the game to fullscreen with stretching but a lot of windowing options don't work and the Aero compatibility is iffy when the game is set to launch in 16 bit mode as the game will turn off Aero after DXWnd is done hooking so I have to manually restart Uxsms on Windows and DXWnd only manages it inconsistently. You can see how all of it is missing when you rename/remove the dll file.ĭXWnd actually fixes the latter issues with shaders and such by itself when the dll file is renamed/removed while using it and the windowing options of DXWnd work to an extent. The thing is that the GOG version (which I'm currently using and having problems with) actually has a modified d3d9.dll that literally adds more resolution options to the options menu (only S3) and fixes missing graphical elements like all the fancy shaders, shadows, and lighting that the game has. I'm trying to use DXWnd to fix Silent Storm (S2) and Silent Storm: Sentinel's (S3) incompatibility problems and it works but only to an extent.
